[HH] Performance: Violence & Learning

Violence & Learning

A performance about political means and ends

Cobblestones made out of foam rubber flies in the air but no one remembers the old teachings. Theory meets practice in a performance about the struggle of today.

"Let nothing be counted for good, although, as always it may seem really helpfull, and nothing henceforth be considered honorable except what changes this world once for all: it needs it." (Brecht)

Violence & Learning is a performance that aims to make the convinced pacifist to clench his fist and to make the stone throwing activist to reconsider. Destroy what destroys you, so the saying goes, but how could it happen when we are on the verge of losing?

Violence & Learning is inspired by Bertolt Brechts learning play Measures Taken, which is placed in a present day filled with strikes, blockades, riots and refugees. Four actors along with the audience creates a chain of events that could be here and now, playful yet deadly serious.

About the group: The work with Violence & Learning is done by a temporary group. Ultimately responsible for the project is Henrik Bromander and John Hanse.
