Important Information:

You can reach from both sides of the Rhein river.  It does not matter which you number you call or where you are calling from, rather make sure to tell the people on the telephone in which country you are in.  We have multilingual support as well.

In Case of Arrest:  

Always Effective: Shout our your name to people around you when you are being arrested.  Make no statements — except for your name — and sign nothing!  Don’t talk about what you did or did not do. Exchange Emails and legal tips (or translate!).

If you are arrested in France, unfortunately you don't have the right to call anyone yourself.  You do have the right, though, that a person of trust will be informed and a lawyer will be called by police.  Demand legal assistance from the Legal Team.

In Germany, you can yourself call the Legal Team and inform them of your arrest.  

When you witness arrest, either in France or in Germany, inform the legal team.

When you get out:  Make notes on what occurred, photograph any injuries and make sure you see a doctor about them.  Please contact the Legal when you get out!!

On the 2nd of April German and French authorities continusly constrained peaceful protests
against the NATO summit in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden by issuing large numbers of travel
bans. The Legal Team in Freiburg has taken notice of more then 30 bans issued by German and
five issued by French police.
The Stuttgart administrative court has today invalidated ten travel bans issued by German
police on the day before, only one ban has been reinforced by the judges. German and French
lawyers are still appealing against these encroachments upon fundamental rights.
Dozens of protestors have been held at the borders to France, mostly in Kehl, for up to five
hours while their documents have been analysed and they have been confronted with partly
absurd accusations. Also some minors have been held for this reason and have been questioned
for hours. In connection with these incidents, three arrests were reported to the Legal Team
Freiburg.

All day activists were refused entry at the border to France by German and French police, some activists were taken in costudy. The entry ban was justified as necessary to avoid a "major threat to the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany" - the activists would harm Germany's reputation abroad. The evidence were such as dark clothes, leaflets or pretended police records.
The Legal Team got information on 23 entry bans issued by German police and 9 entry bans issued by French police. The team of lawyers took notice of at least 35 to 40 entry bans. But there are probably more unreported. The lawyers objected against the entry bans at the police department in Stuttgart. The decision about the entry bans concerning the German border to France, Luxembourg and Switzerland are attended for Thursday morning.
The ten activists taken in costudy at the 1st of April were released in the late evening after an intervention
of the team of lawyers.
