Greek Police - Tradition of Torture

In den Händen der DELTA 17/09/2015

On September 17, 2015 in the aftermath of an attack against a local police station clashes went of in Exarchia (Athens). Following to the incident a number of persons was arrested in the surrounding area. Many, amongst them mainly minors were brutally abused and tortured by cops from the special unit DELTA. Beneath you'll find the translated version of a report on what happened:  The „Democracy“ that tortures it’s own children (about the captives from 17.9.2015) By Antonia Legaki

How much does it take to brake both hands of a 13 year old kid? How „manly“ do four cops of the DELTA unit have to be to hit those hands with „baton-sticks“ until they break? How many and what crimes would justify their blind hatred? How blind is at the same time a system of justice, that doesn’t call for the immediate arrest[sic!] of the cops that handed over the kids in such conditions [or inflicted them]???
„Breach of the public peace“ proclaimed the attorney, and he* continued to accuse him* in regard of the alleged offence. But how far does one have to breach the public peace to be forced to pay for it with two broken little hands?

The 19 year old psychology student who was arrested 500 Meters away from the upheavals is accused of throwing molotow cocktails, though the attorney rejects to confiscate his* backpack that unveils to contain three books from Berthold Brecht an one from Oscar Wilde along with the the bill that confirms that he* bought them half an hour before his arrest. (But the version in which he* was about to throw them at a cop‘s head sounds by far more likely).

Still he* is accused of conducting a crime and is gradged to the investigative judge whit a limp – despite of the fact tha the toes of one of his feet were broken when a cop ran over it with a motorbike over and over again. Battered like that he* was finally taken to the police station.
The bruises on his body are shaped like batons and the right shoulder is close to beeing dislocated but there is no reason to bring him to the hospital…He* and not the cops who tortured him* has to justify him*self in front of the court on Monday.

The teeth of the 17 year old were beaten into a half-circled kind of shape that resembles a baton which was used to beat her mouth brutaly.

Who‘s peace was disturbed? and who should be taken to court here?

And right before the courtcase [hearing] she* looses her* teeth…

A while later another 17 year old, like a „Cyclops“ who’s one eye vanished in a pile of meat that deformed his* entire face.

What sort of peace does that provide for…? And what a tragic irony, gory methods serving the public peace!
Or maybe not so? Maybe the torturers of the kids serve common violence! The broken limbs, teeth and face-bones aren‘t waiting for justice, but to tell the injustice of the criminal acts of fascist gangs created, armed and trained by the nationstate to serve as a sort of SA [Storm Troopers] against the interior enemy.

„Crowd Control“ ist what they call the tactics of attacking bystanders by the means of motorbikes and tortures that follow many of the arrests (to make the masses stay at home).

An impressive compliant is comprised of the „independent judicial branch“ which closes it’s eyes on doubtles cases of torture and offers a smooth finishing to the repressive methods by opening a formal courtcases.

We though!, We don’t have the right to trick ourselfs anymore. We don’t have the right to lower our gaze in the face of the organised crimes of the state. The murdered children from brazil and gaza resemble the future of our own children. Even our own future if we allow the trip into barbary, exploitation and supression to continue.

The latest incident isn't anything new nor is it a single issue. It is part of the unbroken historical continuity that went on to exist in greece since the days of the junta but today in an altered way. The mean of the Terror of the State against its opponents. Whether the government in power is left or right! Whether they are kids or grown ups whom they torture! At this point one should focus on similar cases from the past.

Similar cases:

The four from Konzani / Velveto
On February 1, 2013 Nikos Romanos, Andreas-Dimitris Bourzoukos, Yiannis Michailidis and Dimitris Politis were arrested by officials from DIAS after a bank raid. Following their arrest the police sent pictures of the captives that were obviously edited in an insufficient manner with some sort of picture editing software to the press. Later the original photos the one the cops took during the „interrogation“ in police custody in Kozani came to the fore.

Antifascist Motorcycle Rally [Manifestation] in Athens
Following a number of attacks by fascists against migrants and the unresolved killings of people from pakistan and afghanistan, which partially happened in the centre of Athens under the eyes of the police, a antifascist motorcycle rally moved through the concerned districts on September 30, 2012.
In Ag. Panteleimonas fascists started to provoked the demonstrators and participating migrants and received a thrashing in retourn.
Immediately formations of DELTA units were ready in place and started to attack the antifascist demonstrators. 15 were arrested and severely battered in the police central (GADA). 23 supporters were arrested in front of GADA and also abused.

The police in greece tortures captives eversince, no matter which governement is in power. A tradition which stems from the time of the junta. It is done under the knowlege and condoned by the government at hands which isn’t willing to abstain from spreading fear and loathing amongst those who aren’t satisfied with the current situation.

The people in Athens would be full of joy when they would get to know that a reaction in europe followed the torture by the executive forces in greece.

In order to only round up this article and to show that the Greek police does not even hesitate with repressing and abusing even foreign people in Athens, here an article from a link from last year. In this case the DELTA hit German students, who obvisously did not participate at the yearly demonstrations of the 17th November.

There's also no reaction to hungerstrikes of people put into hellholes for being a family member:

It makes more sense to post it outside of Germoney, because Germoney is paradise where "militant groups" get 3 year sentences for night actions, while in Italy we have comrades in jail for 15 years for shop-lifting at the riots in Genua, or in Spain Catalan anarchist squatters go to jail for being member of ETA after they already were punished with 20 years French prison.

South Europe is not Germoney, in Germoney it's fashion to run around like punks and just do nothing
