Berlin, Friday 1. May 11 a.m. | Where to go / Ort: Australische Botschaft Berlin (Wallstrasse 76-79, U-Märkisches Museum)
The Western Australian government is cutting all funding and forcibly closing hundreds of remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia. This will make tens of thousands of people homeless in their own country. Forcing these people off of their ancestral homelands, to which they have had an innate connection for over 40,000 years, amounts to cultural genocide. May 1st is the International Call-to-Action day, when across Australia and the world people will stand in solidarity with Australia's First Peoples in condemnation of these offences.
Berlin is home to a large Australian expatriate community. Let's come together
to show our solidarity with the proud Aboriginal people and to show the
Australian government that its citizens and others overseas are watching, and
will not stand for further horrors heaped upon its most vulnerable and
mistreated people.
We will meet outside the Australian Embassy and embark on a small march. We hope to see you there.
