Columbus, GA - An overnight fire destroys a Columbus church.

The new Linwood Baptist Church on 10th Avenue went up in flames around 2 AM damaging the church and a few nearby buildings.

The church and a shotgun house next door were destroyed.

Two other businesses, Adams Plumbing and the Savior's House were also damaged by the fire.

The pastor says they didn't have insurance for the church that's been standing there for 65 years, but they will persevere.

Authorities aren't officially ruling it arson, but there have been a few fires in the area that were purposely set, and they may be related.
