RED HULK 
Giorgos lives on his own in Athens. He lacks purpose, self-confidence, identity and peer acceptance. He fills the void by becoming the “Red Hulk”, as he is known at his football team’s fan club. Until the day, he gets involved in racial violence, entailing new problems and dilemmas…

The story takes place in Greece, in the current environment of rising chauvinism and racism, and deals with the matter of the distortion of a person’s personality as he experiences the excessive need of belonging to, and becoming a member of a group. The movie explores the effect on the character’s psychological state as he faces the potential consequences of his choices, raising questions about how the social, family and work environment can affect him.

 

Dye -short film-
Τeleshopping products, conspiration theories, hair loss, pyramid scheme, hair thickening spray, summer. Panagiotis, Nikos and Fani are a family living in Athens. They're letting out the above flat to Rashid. A chance to sell the flat presents itself and each one of them will have to choose sides, with the lines between the victim and the perpetrator being blurred.

 

"Golden Dawn, NYC" is a short documentary about the NYC Greek community's thoughts and reactions to the rise of a neo-Nazi party in Greece and its attempts to ingratiate itself into New York. The film features interviews with members of the Greek diaspora, including anarchist poet and historian Dan Georgakas 

 

A discussion panel will be held prior and after the screening of the short-films/documentaries.

All films will be screened with english subtitles or in the english language.

Unser Ziel ist durch Filme, Kunst und Kultur der Berliner Gesellschaft Ereignisse aus unserem Herkunftsland zu vermitteln, die der Aufmarsch der neorechten und neofaschistischen Parteien verursacht und hervorgebracht hat. Inwiefern und wie tief also der Aufstieg des Rechtsextremismus das Land politisch ergriffen hat und wie die Menschen währenddessen damit umgegangen sind.

 


Zu dieser Thematik gab es während den letzten Jahren eine ganze Reihe von Dokumentarfilmen. Ein Teil diesen „Kulturkapitals“ möchten wir nun den Berlinern vorstellen, in der Hoffnung, sie politisch zu irritieren und das Interesse am Phänomen des Neonazismus und seiner gesellschaftlichen Folgen zu erregen. Vor und nach jeder Filmvorstellung finden Diskussions- und Podiumsdiskussionsrunde statt, die dem Vor- und Nacharbeiten der Themen dienen sollen.
