Nuke Summit: A small spark gives a big boom

In a few days, the biggest summit ever held in the Netherlands will commence with both governments and the nuclear industry converging in Amsterdam and The Hague between 23 and 25 March 2014 (next Sunday to Tuesday). So far there are 4 demonstrations planned with diverse degrees of confrontation.

Politicians are meeting at the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in The Hague on 24 and 25 March, while the nuclear industry is meeting at the Nuclear Industry Summit (NIS) in Amsterdam on the 23, 24 and 25 March.

Legal Team

From Sunday March 23 until Tuesday March 24, there will be a permanent arrest support group active in order to support the actions around the NSS. We can be reached at 0031 631198059 or at utrecht@arrestantengroep.org. We remain in contact with the lawyers available for these days. They are Ineke van den Brûle and Marieke Lindhout from the lawyers' office Prinsegracht 53 in The Hague. You can ask for them if you are taken into custody.

Transport and Borders

The Dutch borders will have increased control during this period to check for “potentially violent groups that threaten the security of the summit”. So be aware while crossing: they will do “random” checks based on their surveillance.

Inside the Netherlands, transport between The Hague and Amsterdam is easy with regular trains taking about 50 min.
