ECOMIG DISARMS SOME GAMBIAN SOLDIERS Takes over State House

Upon confirmation from Amdallai/Karang, Kerr Ali/ Kerr Ayib, Giboro/ Selliti and Soma\Senoba, the ECOMIG Soldiers who were stationed at the border between the Gambia and Senegal have entered Gambian soil on Sunday, 22 January, 2017.

However, information gathered from the military quarters revealed that ECOMIG Soldiers have disarmed the soldiers in Farafenni, Riverside Camp at Bintang Bolong and the state guards stationed at the state house in Banjul and Kanilai.

At State House, it was observed that the ECOWAS troops have taken over State House and surrounded it at both the back and front as far as the beach side.

Most of these soldiers are deployed in the state house. The Gambian troops however are also seen at the gate of the statehouse standing side by side with the ECOWAS troops.

With regard to Yundum and Fajara Barracks, sources revealed that even though the ECOMIG Soldiers are present there, the soldiers are continuing with their normal routine.

Two vehicles are also at the Denton Bridge, the main entrance of the city of Banjul.

On Monday morning Banjulians were seen cheering up the ECOWAS troops some even took pictures with these soldiers.
