Nikos Romanos has released a response to the decision by a Piraeus Court to uphold the decision to deny the hunger striking anarchist leave from prison to attend university.
In it he makes clear that he has no intention of ending his hunger strike, while he accuses the Justice Ministry of directing a campaign against him.
Below is the response in full (translation by TheTOC):

"I am attempting to put down on a piece of paper my last remains of ordered thought given the latest developments and the latest rejection of my request for educational leave.

From the first days of the [hunger] strike I had said in my intervention at the solidarity demonstration which had taken place at the Polytechnic, that the [first] rejection from Nikopoulos, who for so long stated that he did not have the relevant competency, was only the beginning of a strategy by the state to eliminate me.

This political assessment has been totally confirmed. To begin with was the order from the prosecutor of Korydallos prison, Evangelia Marsioni for my forced feeding, an act which constitutes a true rape and has caused the death of, among others, Holger Meins in Germany and members of GRAPO in Spain. To their credit, the doctors of the hospital threw the prosecutor’s order in the trash and refused to commit such a state sanctioned crime.

My subsequent appeal to a court outside of prison (a legal move which many prisoners choose when the prison council rejects their requests) was rejected on the grounds that they are bound by Nikopoulos’s decision, the same exact decision that was being challenged.

For all those that have an elementary perception of politics, the intervention of the Justice Ministry, one day before the court convened, was a clear order for the rejection of the request, and I will explain why immediately. In the announcement issued by the Ministry of Justice, it refers to the artifice that Athanasiou [the Justice Minister] is not competent, only to add underneath: “Educational leave is granted exclusively by the relevant (prison) council over which presides the prosecutor, while for those remanded in custody and suspected of crimes, the consent of the of the judicial organ which ordered the temporary detention is required.”

In short my appeal was invalidated by the Minister’s words, clearly and simply. All of this is dressed with the unworkable proposal of distance learning lessons in place of leave - which does not bear up to scrutiny due to the need for practical exercises for which attendance is mandatory. The road has also be opened to the prison councils to eliminate [prison leave] entirely, as their well-known fear of taking responsibility and the ‘solution’ of distance learning will apply to all prisoners.

According to the exact same logic, soon visits with our families will take place separated by glass panes for security reasons, as will our court trials. Technology in service of ‘corrections’ and justice. Human progress or a slide towards fascism… history will decide.

At this point it is worthwhile for me to mention the role of the special appellate magistrate Eftichis Nikolopoulos, who from the first moment that I began my hunger strike has received clear political orders from his political superiors in the Justice Ministry, which is why, after all, they are putting all of the responsibility on him. In exchange for him taking on this role, will be his promotion to the Supreme Court, as was the case with his predecessor, Dimitris Mokas, who had spearheaded tens of anti-anarchist suppression campaigns. Now he enjoys the fat paycheck of the judicial elite of the Supreme Court. An accident? I don’t think so…

I, on my side continue, passing over whatsoever possibility of backing down and I answer with A FIGHT UNTIL VICTORY OR A FIGHT UNTIL DEATH.

In any case if the state murders me with its stance, Mr Athanasiou and his crew will go down in history as a gang of murderers, responsible for the torture and murder of a political prisoner. Let’s hope only that those free spirits will be found who will judge the rightness of justice in their own way.

In closing, I want to send my complicity and friendship to all those standing by me in all ways.

Finally two words for my brothers, Giannis, who is also in hospital, Andreas, Dimitris and many more.

The struggle also entails losses as on the roads towards a more respectable life we must take death’s hand, to risk losing it all in order to win everything. The struggle continues with a fist to the knife, again and again.

ALL FOR ALL!

FOR ALL OF US WHO LIVE AND BREATHE LONG LIVE ANARCHY! 6TH OF DECEMBER ON THE STREETS OF RAGE. MY THOUGHTS WILL WANDER THE KNOWN STREETS BECAUSE IT IS WORTH LIVING A DREAM EVEN IF ITS FIRE WILL CONSUME YOU.

AND AS WE SAY, AND US POWER.

PS. Obviously I cannot control the social reflexes which are triggered. However all those SYRIZA people and other hope peddlers who have appeared have been rejected WITHOUT DISCUSSION, while I stress again that I have officially signed my refusal of whatsoever IV treatment.

Gestern, 2.12.2014 fanden Solidemonstrationen in Thessaloniki, Athen, Patras, Ioannina, Chania, Iraklion,u.a.
